With the recent increases in gas and oil, biomass is fast becoming a cost effective heating solution to many situations, particularly in situations where the heat demand is very high.
In many smaller heat demand situations grants and loans are a very effective way to improve the cost effectiveness. The biomass sector is not yet particularly well supported but nevertheless there are some important government sources of funds.
Now closed and has been superseded by the DTI's Low Carbon Buildings Programme (LCBP).
An Action Energy Loan scheme provides interest free loans of between £5,000 and £50,000 to established SMEs planning relevant energy saving measures.
